Details
An evaluation for autism spectrum disorder in children will include a thorough clinical interview with the child's parent or guardian, a play-based assessment with the child, and completion of rating forms by the parent/guardian. Questionnaires or rating forms may also be completed by the child's teacher(s) or other individuals who know the child well or work with them regularly. A developmental screening measure will also be conducted and if the child demonstrates a cognitive delay, an aptitude test will be administed. Available medical records or previous evaluations done by a speech therapist, occupational therapist, or early intervention provider are also helpful. The initial parent/guardian interview may be completed in-person or online. The other assessment components will be completed in-person. A detailed report with findings and recommendations will be provided during the parent/guardian feedback session, which may be held in-person or online.
